Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
I recently had a divorce in the summer of 2013. I was a wreck and didn't really read the decree that
My ex-wife made up with a mediator. Looking through it recently I saw something that alarmed me.
She put in the decree that she has the right to take kids without geographical limitations. She also has been
Seeing someone in Colorado for the past 6 months, which appears to be serious. My kids are my life
And I would be devastated if she just packed and left to colorado(from Texas) what steps do I need to
Adjust decree where she can't just up and leave with our kids?
Sincerely
Keith

You need to hire an attorney in your area and ask for a modification of the rights and duties.
I don't know if a judge would change the residency restriction but only a local attorney that knows the judge your case is assigned to can answer that question.
I assume that you did not have an attorney when you divorced.
Now you have learned why people need an advocate on their side during the difficult time of a divorce. I would encourage you to tell everyone you know that they should not try to do something so important as a divorce without an attorney.
Look on this website & on www.avvo.com for an attorney.
I hope this information has been helpful.
