Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
I have recently got a divorce. And yes, I will save you the trouble and tell you I was stupid and trusting!! I didnt get a lawyer and just let HIS lawyer draw up the divorce papers. He owes me $42,000. I thought it would be in the decree, but wasnt because the lawyer represented him. So we made an agreement a year after the divorce he would pay me interest for 5 years and then pay me the bulk sum. He has actually paid the interest... in cash each month. I am so worried in a year that he will deny the agreement. I have the paper in his handwriting and the emails I sent to his lawyer stating that he owes me the money. I just get sick to my stomach when I think about him not ever paying me!!! Any advice????

Take all your paperwork to a local attorney and see if there is enough evidence there to sue for a debt. In Texas, it's almost impossible to collect an unsecured debt, but you might be able to collect on it nonetheless.
Good luck!!
