Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

So I have recently seperated from my boyrfriend and the police are now saying that since we have been living together for almost a year and MY stuff is in HIS house and we both signed the lease i cannot recieve my property until i get a lawyer. Is this necessary and even legal

If your ex-boyfriend won't let you remove your possessions, and the police won't help you then you have no other choice but to go to court and try to get your stuff back. You might call the sheriff's dept. in your area and see if they would help you. Just remember that the policing agencies are swamped and they often don't have time to help people remove their possessions.

An attorney cannot force the police to help you.
