Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

We have recently been told that my son fathered a son with an old girlfriend. The mother has lost custody because of drugs. The young boy also spent a year in foster care because his mother and grandmother tested positive for drugs. The grandmother finally got clean and was awarded custody. Is there anything we can do to help this child?

Yes. You can file a suit for paternity (to establish Dad's legal rights to his son). In connection with that, you will ask the Court for custody.
