Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

None Recieved Car Title

In my divorce settlement the car was awarded to me. I have not been able to obtain the title through my ex-husband and its been almost 2 years. The divorce was done in Georgia but I have recently moved to Texas and hes in California. I tried to get a Lawyer in Texas but been advised nothing can be done here due to the divorce being in Georgia. I can not afford to go to Georgia to get legal help. I need this title to get my car registered here in Texas. I NEED HELP

Re: None Recieved Car Title

There's no other way to do this but use your GA divorce to get title in your name. This has to be done in GA. If you want to call me, I can give you the name of an attorney in GA.

Re: None Recieved Car Title

Contact the Motor Vehicle Department in GA. Tell them you have lost the title. Give them sufficient information with which to locate the title. If you have a GA registration that would be great.

You will have to file an Affidavit stating that the whereabouts of the title is unknown to you. From your post I assume that to be true.

They will issue you a replacement title providing your name was on the first one and you can use that to obtain new title/registration in TX.

Good luck.
