Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

re-do divorce decree

When my ex-wife and I divorced in 1999, we agreed that in lieu of child support she would keep our home, business, vehicles, and bank account. Since then she has taken me back to court for child support. It was granted to her. Now I want to know what I can do to regain some of the property I gave up in lieu of child support. She has in income of at least $100,000 a year, and mine is approximately $17,000 a year.

Any attorney would have to review your decree from 1999 very carefully. Was there a specific provision showing a credit toward child support for the uneven property division??? Did you have an attorney during your divorce? Did you have an attorney during the modification?

You really need to take all your paperwork to an attorney in your area that practices in family law so that you can get specific advise on any options you might have.
