Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

First Right of Refusal

My ex and I divorced 1.5 yrs ago. I got the house, but he got first right of refusal in the event I sell the house. I am now trying to sell the house and he is demanding that I release the realtor and sell it to him. I am getting remarried in 3 weeks. If I get remarried immediately, would this cancel my ex's rights since the house would then become community property w/the new husband?

Re: First Right of Refusal

The house does not become community property of your new spouse. It is your separate property until you lose it to community property.

I just want to add to Mr. Grissom's response, that if your former husband has a valid right of first refusal, you need to honor it, or it could get very expensive for you.
