Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

i was in a relationship with a guy in texas and we have a 8 month old son. he is abusive and has been arrested for this. i left and went to another state where my parents are so i can have support and help starting over since i have no family in texas. the guy is threating me in texts and phone calls to return or he will get custody of our son. what should i do? do i need to try to arrange for temp. custody or what ? i don't want him getting custody
