Relinquech Parental Rights

My girlfriend is pregnant and we found out that the child has down syndrome. She wants to have the baby and I don't. How do I go about relinqueching my parental rights?

It's probably not going to happen unless there is some other man who is willing to step up and assume you parental responsibilities.

I agree with Ms. Bushman, but want to add that the law does not allow you to choose the perfect child to parent.

Since you will probably be ordered to pay child support to care for the child, possibly forever since the child will likely be permanently disabled, you might want to rethink your approach, and be an involved parent to the child, who will need you very much.
