Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
I am relocating over 150 miles away and my divorce decree states there are no geographical restrictions. I live in a oil booming town and I work in healthcare. My ex has recently bought a new 300, 000 dollar home and decided he can no longer pay child support therefore I need to move somewhere that cost of living is cheaper since I don't make as much money as the oilfield people in my area since I am a nurse. How far in advance do I need to notify him of our move? I have read and read my decree and I see nothing in it about how far in advance I need to notify him. It states he must notify me of any move or job changes within 7 days of the change but there is nothing about when I need to notify him. Please advise. I am trying to do everything legally.

If the decree doesn't require notice, then you don't have to give any.
However, you need to turn this child support matter over to the attorney general's office. He doesn't get to just decide not to pay support.
