Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Relocation during divorce

What are my options? I consulted an attorney in June 2007, my divorce is still not final. I have a court date scheduled March 2008, but I have moved to another state. Do I need to give my lawyer this info? She has been very slow and unprofessional, but I am not in a position to start all over. Do I need to let her know, that I moved to another state? I requested to avoid a court appearance. I have a minor child born--name removed--in the marriage, lawyer told me that's why I had to go to court. I really am not able to travel back. I didn't move until 6 months after I filed. I am recieving Child Support through income withholding of less than $200 mo, her father financial circumstances have changed tremendously. What are my options?

Re: Relocation during divorce

Options? might get a better lawyer, but that costs more money. Probalby best to get your divorce in TX. You have to go to court one way or another, so might as well make all the preparation. Then move the case to your new state and seek an increase in child support. I've heard the lawyers are better there.
