Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

removal of parental rights of a convicted child molester

My ex-husband has two convictions for child molestation against my children, 1 of which is his natural child.. He is currently serving (2) 5 yr. sentences. Is there any legal way that I can have his parental rights taken away? Or are they automatically taken away by the conviction? Divorce papers say he is to have no contact pending outcome of the criminal trial.. which resulted in conviction.

Sounds to me as though you have more than ample grounds for termination of parental rights, but it is not automatic. You must petition the court for termination and obtain a decree of termination.
