Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

I reopened my my case (previously a divorce case with children) about 8 months ago to modify child/parent relationship and increase child support. After back and forth with discovery (completed in Jan), neither I or my ex have pushed any further. How long will the court allow this case to sit as an open/pending case?

Until someone either sets it for trial; or until the Court dismisses the case for want of prosecution.
