Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Right to reside in a divorce

My parents are divorced. My father

got the land and my mother got the

house. Her house is on his land, so

she was given the right to reside in

the divorce. Now he is behind on

the lands taxes and he will either

sell it or it will go up for auction.

What will happen to my mother and

her right to reside if it is sold or

auctioned?

Re: Right to reside in a divorce

The house is a permanent fixture, and she may lose the house. She needs to hire a lawyer to protect herself. It may be in her interest to pay the taxes, then sue him for enforcement of the decree to get reimbursed.
