Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Residency Requirements

My wife and I lived in Fort Bend County from 1990 to 2005. In May,2005, we moved overseas for business assignment. In December 2005, we sold our property in Fort Bend County and then bought another property in Harris County and it is being rented. My Company is based in Houston and am currently in London until about May,2007. My wife doesnt work and lives with me.

Our marriage is not working and we have talked about divorce. I am serious about divorce but cannot say the same for my wife since she changes her mind fast.

Can I file divorce in Texas? if not, then where can I file for divorce?

I am 62 and looking for retirement. My wife is 53. Would the divorce affect my social security payments?

Thanks

Re: Residency Requirements

Sounds like you have a legal Texas residence in Harris County. It's not likely that the divorce would effect your SS.
