Re: Residency time requirements for Texas Family Law jurisdiction

It depends upon the type of family law case. Generally, for DIVORCE, one spouse must have been in the state for six months and the county for 90 days.

For other family law matters, it depends upon the situation. For example, is it child related? Where is the child (and for how long)? Is there an action in another state? WAS there an action in another state? Was there a previous TEXAS action.

Call an attorney and give him or her ALL of the facts so that you can get answers particular to your circumstances.
