Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
How do I respond?
I am going through a divorce right now and while I live in Texas my ex lives in Wisconsin. I filed papers here but he went ahead and also filed papers in Wisconsin two days before I did. I was served his papers and have only 10 days to respond. I was wondering how I go about responding to this so it won't default. The trouble is we have a one year old son and I don't want him to have any custody or anything cause he is a alcholic with a record of domestic abuse on me.

You said you "filed papers" which leads me to believe that you are trying to do this yourself. If so, you are now in over your head. I strongly suggest that you consult with an attorney. What you say in the documents to respond to your husband's lawsuit is very important. Good Luck.
