Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Respondent's Original Answer

I have chosen to file for divorce in the state of Texas. I then proceded to send certified mail a copy of the original petition and waiver of citation to my spouse. He did not respond by filing the waiver of citation but rather entered a Respondent''s Original Answer in which it says, I am the respondent in this case. I enter a general denial and request notice of all hearings in this case. What does this mean?

If you're going to be your own attorney, then you need to study up on these things. The judge is not going to give you a break just because you're not a lawyer. You have to be ready just like us lawyers. Do your homework. Good Luck.

It means that this is not an uncontested divorce. I suggest you find yourself a good family law attorney.
