Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

I retained a lawyer her in Texas for a divorce a year ago in September. Up until this date the divorce is pending finalization. There are assets involved and I have dislosed all information needed regarding bank accounts, debts and property as needed. We only went to court once and that was back in September of 2011 when judge imposed that I pay my ex spousal support. I have already paid her about $20000.00 and cannot move forward with my life becauase I feel that both my lawyer and her lawyer are stalling for time. What can I do?

Fire your lawyer, and hire a new one.

Do it IN WRITING. Write a letter to your lawyer - no phone calls, emails, tweets, etc. - something like this:

-----------------------------------------

Dear Mr. Lawyer,

Please stop working on my case and let me know when I can come pick up my file. I will soon be hiring a different lawyer who will substitute in for you. Let me know how much I owe you or, if I have money in your trust account that you haven't yet earned, please refund it to me and let me have a statement of account.

-----------------------

Send the letter by certified mail with a return receipt requested. It will cost you about $5.75.
