Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Retainer Longevity?

I have a divorce lawyer, paid him in full, spouse and I put it on hold, I know the money is non refundable, but I'm not sure if my marriage will work out, how long is my lawyer required to honor our contract since I have paid him in full by Texas law standards?

Re: Retainer Longevity?

You need to read the contract you entered into with the attorney.

I have no idea what you mean by "Texas law standards".

I assume that your contract says the money is non-refundable.

The contract you signed should outline what you agreed to do.

FYI: My law office does not keep any unused money. I refund any unused money on my clients accounts at the end of each legal matter.

Good luck!

Most attorneys, I hope, would honor their contract with you within a reasonable amount of time. I would contact the attorney and ask them.
