Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Rights of child support to a soon to be mother

I have recently found out I am pregnant I am not married. The father says he does not want any thing to do with "it". During pregnancy I know I can handle the finances but after I will need some help he says he wants nothing to do with it now or ever. He wanted to get a lawyer to draw up some sort of papers saying if i needed help in the future that he would help but i fell he should help on a permenant basis. He may leave the city or maybe even the state. I am not sure if he does I am not sure on how to locate him I knwo where he lives right now and where he works but if he does like he said he might I am totally lost wht can i do and when can i do it any information would be appreciated Thank you very much

I would suggest getting an order in place providing for you having primary custody of the child and ordering the father to pay child support. This should be done as soon as possible after the birth of the child. Once you have a support order, it will be enforcable in any state that he moves to. You can also receive assistance from various state and federal agencies in collecting child support should he not pay it. Good Luck
