If you have joint custody can the other parent just come and take the child away and not let you have visitation

If you have joint custody, your order should contain a specific visitation schedule. It is usually a standard possession order, or may be a modified possession order. While visitation can always be had by agreement by the parties, if there is no agreement then the order must be followed. Not following the order ie: denying access to the other party is normal punishable by fine, possibly jail, and often attorney's fees.
