Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
Do I have any rights?
My mother was raped in her 20's in 1957 and became pregnant. She gave the child up for adaoption. This child has located my mom in about 10 years ago. My gave her all the information she wanted and asked her not to contact her or our family again. This woman has since then contacted several members of our family and is now trying to contact me. She has somehow got the name and cell phone numbers to friend and in-laws and is calling them looking for me. I am very concerned that my personal information has some how been comprmised. I do not know how she could have obtained some of this information. I also feel as though I am being stalked and would like her to stop. Is there some way for me to legally keep her from contacting myself & our family. My mother is 70 years old and has tried to put this horrible event behind her. However, the constant hounding from this person causes my mother to have to relive the pain and horror over and over again. I want her to stop and let us live in peace.

Re: Do I have any rights?
The surest, most effective method to stop the contact would be to hire a lawyer, and get a permanent injuction against her from contacting you (and your mother, and anyone else in the family that chooses to be included as a Petitioner). If she violates the injunction, she could be jailed and/or fined for contempt.
You can contact your local PD, but it is not likely that the phone calls and emails would rise to the level of stalking, as a criminal offense.
