Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Do I have any rights?

I am a non custodial parent. I regularly see my children(3) on their visitation days. I have been sued by my ex for non payment of child support. I can not renew my nursing license with this on my records, therefore I can not work in my profession. I am also in default on student loans. I am unemployed broke and never have any money for the kids even when I do get to see them I also am not allowed to call them . I live 60 miles away and have to drive 120 miles round trip to see them -240 miles each weekend . I am afraid I don't quite undertand the way the system works. I also had an agreement with my ex to provide clothes etc in lieu of the support. Do I have any way out?

Re: Do I have any rights?

Regardless of your circumstances, you really need to consult with an attorney to help you with these matters. You have too much at risk and already are finding out the problems of being in arrears on child support. Not a great answer other than advising you to contact an attorney.

Re: Do I have any rights?

You may need to file a motion to modify and enter into

an agreement to address the arrearage and current

child support. Then hopefully that can help your work

situation. If not, you may need to find whatever job you

can get until you can move back into your regular

employment field.
