Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
rights of teenager
I am 17 and living with my mother is impossible. I am the holders of 4 children by 3 fathers and my mother is expecting her 5th baby in November.
She and my stepfather are very verbally abusive to all of us and and I just can't take anymore. My father has gone to court to get custody of me and my brother but the attorney the court appointed for us kids was on my mothers side. They make us live one week with my mother and they we get to spend a week with my dad. my brother and I both signed the paper saying we wanted to live with my father all the time but nobody will listen to us.
Can I just refuse to go back to my mothers house and stay with my dad?
My dad has already spent about $15,000 on this, so there isn't money for him to go back to court.
CPS has already come to my house but my stepdad is a cop and they just said they never did anything to us so that was that. CPS wouldn't help us at all.
Don't my brother and I have rights? I am 17 and he is 12.
We both love our dad very much and want to live with him.
Is it because he isn't married and my mom is?
Please find a way for my brother and me to get out of my moms house?

Re: rights of teenager
The squeaky wheel gets the grease, and you need to become the squeaky wheel.
Continue complaining to any counselor, CPS, teacher, lawyer, minister etc who will listen to you.
If you email me directly, I can locate the low-cost/free legal services in your area -- although your dad is tapped out and was unsuccessful, there may be avenues available to you. It is worth a try -- options that are immediately available to you, would not be to your 12 year old brother; so you have to go through the system.
