Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Room and Board

Our stepgrandaughter has been living with us for 1 1/2 yrs.

Our son in law has joint custody-he and our daughter now live with us with 2 other children. The exwife is wanting the daughter back. Can we charge her room and board on the grandaughter for the time we have had her?

Re: Room and Board

If you've had the child in your home for over 6 months, then you need to consult with an attorney about getting custody of the child.

You might have standing to get custody of the child.

Or perhaps your son should modify his current legal document regarding this child.

Lastly, you can ask her for room and board but if she is not ORDERED by a court to do so then her payments would be voluntary.
