Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Is it safe to travel to the other parent's state?

I just got an order signed for sole custody in Texas under subject matter jurisdiciton. There is no visitation granted in this order. There is no order for support because it was too difficult to prove personal jurisdiction. The other parent lives in Florida. We will ask the Texas AG for help with the child support order. Once this is done, is it safe to visit Florida, or can I be served with papers there for custody?

You could be served; anyone can file a lawsuit. However, the Texas court has acquired continuing jurisdiction over the children, and the Florida court, once apprised of that, will defer to the Texas court.
