Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Scholarships and Child Support

My son's father is away at Texas A&M with some scholarship requiring no dependents. Supposedly that is. If placed on child support he will lose this scholarship. Court is around the corner for us and what I want to know is how can I go about getting child support without corrupting his ability to get scholarship funding for A&M?

Re: Scholarships and Child Support

I'll be brief and to the point.

The State of Texas expects both parents to support their children.

The scholarship issue is HIS problem.

If he lied to receive a scholarship, then the organization that gave him the scholarship will probably not be very happy. Depending on what forms he completeed, he might have actually committed a criminal act in not telling the truth on the application for a scholarship.

Again, these problems are HIS problems. These are NOT your problems.

I hope this information is helpful.
