Seeking Child Support

I had an affair with a married man and became pregnant. He is refusing paternity, and I am seeking child support through the state, but they say they need his social security number and I don't have it. I have date of birth, address, phone number, and place of employment. Should I contact a lawyer, or would they also need his social? I really need the money. Also, he has moved once, and changed his phone number numerous times, so it is hard to locate him, but he is still at his current job.

You don't need his social security number to sue him for child support. As long as you know who he is and where to find him for service of process you ought to be able go forward. You can obtain his social security number during the litigation process. You should know that the state Attorney General's Office will not be acting as your attorneys. They represent the State of Texas' interests. A private attorney will be able to get the show on the road for you expeditiously. Good luck.
