Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

sequestering people

A female co-worker of mine is going through a divorce and her husband who owns a business is trying to say her and I had some affair going on in order to keep all his assests. Basically they had problems at home and I'm being used as the excuse for the divorce. I was told I could be sequestered as well as others. My question is who can be sequestered and what exactly happens with that. One of my concerns is can my wife be sequestered even if she has nothing to do with the either of them.

Re: sequestering people

I just hate these questions that ask about an obscure area of the law. But, as far as "sequester", the court has discretion to do many things. Would they put someone in jail to be a witness in a divorce case as you generally describe it - not very likely. The witness would have to be very obstinate and violate all court orders for attendance and the information would have to be unique to that witness. I hope that gives you an idea about the answer to your question.

Are you sure that you are using the correct legal term?

I don't think so.

During the trial, witnesses are normally instructed by the Judge not to discuss the case with other witnesses and they must sit outside the courtroom so that they cannot hear what other witnesses are testifying to in the courtroom.

Perhaps that info. will help you.
