Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

I was served a court summons today, however, it does not give me the necessary 20 days to answer the summons. Can I ask for a continuance to have time to answer the summons?

What kind of "summons" is it? A citation for personal service? A subpoena?

Why would you ask for more time? Just file the answer (I assume that you're not being sued in some distant county).
