Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

serving respondent

I filed for divorce recently but my husband went AWOL from the army three years ago so I have no idea where he is or how to contact him or any of his family members that I never met or talked to during the marriage. The judge said that I have to notify him of the pending divorce and have him served within 30 days or my case will be dismissed. My question is how am I supposed to notify or serve him when I have had no contact with him for the past three years and I do not know where he is located?

Re: serving respondent

At this point you may need to retain an attorney -- you will need to serve him by posting/publication which has very specific rules. Additionally, you have to make sure that you comply with Soldier's and Sailors Act.
