Significant other -splitting

Do I have any rights as a homosexual relationship when it comes to a breakup? After 11 years of partnership there are many items, i.e. home, land, household items, furniture, appliances, & credit card debt. Is there any way to protect myself from being abused financially. All finances were and still are co-mingles. If items are in both names, can one file bankruptcy without the other being involved?
