Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

signing of checks

me and my ex got a house a couple years ago. we put both our names on it. when we broke up, i got him to sign an agreement stating that he would get nothing of the house and that i get everything. recently, i had a house fire. they mailed me my contents and mortgage check with both our names on it. my question is, can i just take the checks to a judge and get him to sign them so i wont have to deal with my ex at all and show him the copy of our agreement?

Re: signing of checks

A judge is not going to sign your check if it is made out to your X. Thta is called forgery. If your X won't sign it voluntarily according to the terms of the divorce, you will have to file a motion to enforce. Good Luck.
