Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

I am a single mother to my two year old son, and I am considering moving overseas for 1 to 2 years. His father doesn't have much to do with him as far as visitation goes, and has only seen him once in the last 12 months, even though he is a short drive away. I already spoke with his father about the possible move, and he is okay with it, as long as we come visit once a year. We have never been to court to establish custody or visitation. What documents might I need in order to make this move happen? Will we be able to make this happen outside of court?

If paternity has never been established by court order, then the father (the man you know to be the biological father) is basically a stranger to the child, and you don't need any documentation or signatures from him at all.
