Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

My son has a baby with medical problems and the mother has moved him away and will not give my son any information on his son's welfare. They were not married and no costody papers served. She and her family will not even answer my calls. I am very concerned about his welfare. What is his legal rights in this. We live in Tx and he works at a fast food place so cannot afford to hire attorney.

I charge $1 per minute to sit down and talk to him (and/or you too).

It sounds like you will need to do PATERNITY. If they were never married, even if he's on the birth certificate, there needs to be a child support order and visitiaton schedule in place.

If he is totally broke, then he needs to find a pro bono (free) legal services in Texas.

Houston Volunteer Lawyers Program, Lone Star Legal Services and the 3 lawschools in Houston, TX are some places to begin.

Be advised that these free legal services are swamped with requests for services. They are only able to take a fraction of the people that apply for their services.
