Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

My son has a son with his girlfriend she said she was going to visit her mother which is 12 hours away and is now not wanting to come back. What rights does my son have to his child and what would we need to do to get it legally done so she cant stay that far away with his child. we are in the state of Texas. thank you for any help you can give me.

It's simple: He needs to file a paternity suit. You can hire a lawyer to do this (plan to bring about $3000 for a down payment for the fee) or you can get the Attorney General to do it for free (they're slow and unresponsive).
