Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
My son just went to a lawyer who is the attorney for his wife. The lawyer went through all of the things that my son's wife is asking him to provide when the divorce is settled. His wife is asking him to provide monetary support for a child that they were going to adopt but hadn't yet. Is he required to support that unadopted child? This is in addition to giving his wife and four children (his) alimony and child support. Isn't there a law in Texas that says a man does not have to pay alimony?

You son need to get his own lawyer. His soon to be ex-wife's attorney represents her, not your son. Her lawyer will look out for her best interests and make sure that she gets as much as possible out of your son.
Texas law does allow alimony but only under limited cicumstances.
If he has not adopted the child he is not obligated to pay child support for it. However, it the adoption takes place before the divorce becomes final, then he would be obligated to support it.
Have your son hire a lawyer. Not to do so in these circumstances is penny wise and pound foolish.
