Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

My son is not married and has two children, he has a bi polar disorder and has been using pot the past year, his now ex girlfriend left him and went to another county, she will only allow him to see the children at the home of her parents and insist on supervised visitation only in her parents home. there is no custody order in place. she filed a report on him with cps. what can we do legally. we live in texas

He needs to file a paternity suit. In connection with the suit, he can ask for custody, or he can simply ask that the court give him some kind of access to the child (every other weekend, for instance).

The court will order him to pay child support.
