Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

My son real father died April 1, 2015 and had no will or new wife. He owned minerals & royalty on gas wells. My son was adopted by my new husband in 1983 after I divorced my son's father. He is the only child that my ex-husband had. Is my son entitled to his ex-fathers minerals & royalty? all legal matters to my son was done in Texas.
