Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

my son is 17 and i have shared custody with my ex. my son doesnt want to go back and forth anymore . how do i make this happen for him, he comes home from his dads upset every time. and do i lose my child support if he chooses to leave his father?

First, child support is not tied to possession and possession is not tied to child support. If you fail to obey a court order for either, you could be held in contempt and sent to jail, regardless of whether the other party is obeying the order.

You need to get the court to modify the order or you could be in violation of it. I have never seen a court tell a 17 year old what to do, but it could.

Part of a parent's job is to help the child have a good relationship with the other parent. Sometimes that is not possible. An attorney can help you to evaluate your situation and decide what to do.
