Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
My son and I were victims of domestic violence. His father was convicted on felony domestic assult charges in 2008 and will be released in 2012. Before he is released I would like to change visitation & legally change my son's last name. As of right now there is still a protective order in place that will last one year after he is released. After the year, visitation will resume to court ordered supervised by the paternal gandparents. Before the arrest the grandparents didn't follow the guide lines for supervision, i.e. they allowed the father to take the child alone in the car and left child and father unsupervised. A CPS case was dropped in 2005 because of no witnesses, that is why I was unable to get the courts to order supervised by a government worker (without hiring a lawyer). I want changes made before he is released. I would like a cps worker to supervise the visitations for our safety. I cant afford the retainer of 2,500. I need some one that takes payments, does that exist?

There are many good attorneys who will work with their clients on payment plans, especially if it is to protect a child from an abuser. I'd encourage you to call around to find one that's willing to work with your budget.
