Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

My son will be 16 in September. He is wanting to change his name. We live in Texas & I am needing to know if he can only change his 1st & last name or if he can change his whole name. I also need to know if it matters if his last name is hyphenated.

You just change your name. If some parts of the new name are the same as some parts if the old name, that is OK. Hyphenation is allowed.
