My sons exgirlfriend is pregnant with his child. I would like to know his rights as a father. She is not taking care of herself eg: smoking, drinking, not going to the doctor. We would like to know how hard it would be to get custody of the child when its born, if it makes it that far.

I would start building the case by taking pictures, videos of the drinking, smoking, etc throughout pregnancy, so when the child is born you have have evidence of her carelessness, negligence and total disregard for the health of the child. Thereafter, when the child is born report her to child protective services with your evidence and hire a Lawyer to file suit asking for custody of the child. You should be prepared as to who will be caring for the child if the father of the child has to work.
