Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

My sons father assaulted me On April 22nd, Before then we had 50/50 custody of our son. 4days/4days, After the incident I filled for a protective order and requested supervised visitation untill my sons father completed his Family violence therapy. We also had a guardien ad litem appointed to the case. He was granteed supervised visitation on every 1st 3rd and 5th saterday. During the review of the case in court he asked that the custody arrangments go back to 50/50 how they were. The judge granteed supervised visitations for every 1st 3rd and 5th weekend, and the supervision to be done by his parents. Once the judge ordered that My sons father filed for a petition to modify parent child relationship right there in the same court and also a temp order. He stated that he wants custody and that I should only be allowed supervised visitations as well as pay child support....I dont know what I should do. I know I need a lawyer and I was told i need to file a counter petition to modify child parent relationship and just attach the previouse orders, protection order, and the visitation order. Is this correct? what should I do?

Get a lawyer. Now. Borrow from relatives if you have to. This is not the kind of case you can handle by yourself.
