Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

spousal support

I am a mother of 2 children ages 3 and 8. I have been married 8 years.(married @ 19) I have been a stay at home mom for the entire duration of my marriage. I presently do not have any job skills or formal education (college). My husband and father of our 2 children has asked for a divorce. Beyond child support, is there any spousal support or alimony available to someone in my situation in the state of TX? Also although our aim is to have an ammicable divorce, if there is such a thing, is it in my children and my best interest to seek my own legal council or have joint representation. thanks in advance.

Re: spousal support

Texas has limited spousal support.

You can read about it on-line -- go to any search engine and enter -- Texas Family Code.

Usually the courts will order temporary spousal support if you do temporary orders, while the divorce is pending.

You really need to consult with an attorney regarding your rights.

Good luck!
