Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

My spouse filed for divorce in feb in Dallas TX. I resided in va at the time. I wasn't served until June 1 and submitted a general denial within the 20 day period. A day later I signed the final divorce decree sending a copy to his lawyer as well as the courts. Yesterday I received a notice of dismissal for want of prosecution and the date is set for august 31. What does this mean? Do I have to appear in court? What caused it to go in to dismissal status? Your feedback is greatly appreciated

The DWOP notice you received is issued routinely by the courts to maintain control of the dockets. If the case is not retained on the docket, or resolved, the court will dismiss the case on that date. A divorce cannot be granted until it is 'ripe', which is the 61st day from filing. Since the petition was filed in February, and you have an agreed decree, you should contact his attorney to find out what the problem is, or hire an attorney to represent your interests.
