Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

my spouse is an immigrant- will this affect his ability to sue me for divorce on

My spouse is threatening to sue for a rather substantial amount. He says that because of his immigration status (He's still within his two year probationary permanent residency), and the fact that I am his only family here, he can sue for a large sum on the grounds of adultery. Is there any truth to this claim?

I strongly urge you to sit down with an attorney in your county and discuss this matter.

A short consultation will give you the current Texas law and some peace of mind.

Being an immigrant will not impact his ability to sue you.

Adultery laws in Texas have changed many years ago.

For example, suing for alienation of affection is no longer allowed in Texas.

Good luck!
