Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

spouses whereabouts unknown

I have been married for 11 yrs but my husband and i have never lived together as husbund and wife. As soon as we got married he took off and I not seen him in 11 yrs. Is it possible for me to get a divorce without his signiture on anything if I do not know where he is now.

You may sue for divorce on the basis of living apart for at least three years. If, after due diligence, you are unable to locate your spouse, you can serve him by publication.

I agree with Elizabeth Schaefer's reply.

I have done several divorce by publication. They take longer than usual and require that you try to find him.

I charge $990 deposit to start such a case then weekly payments of $100/week. I refund any unused money at the end of the case.

Most of my "easy" (no kids, no assets) divorce by publications usually run approx. $2,000. With kids, it is much more and much harder!

Good luck!
