Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
Do step parents have any legal rights? My ex got married and now he is telling my that his wife can represent him at school when he is traveling. Can he do that? Does his wife have any rights?

It is not her rights, per se, that you are describing. Most decrees provide that either parent can designate a competent adult to pick up/deliver the child in their absence. Read your decree to see what language was included. If you have reasonable cause to believe that the stepmom is a danger to your child, you should discuss the situation with an attorney to explore a motion to modify restricting her access. If, on the other hand, it's just annoying, then learn to live with it. Your child has to make the best of this situation, and this is a new and possibly permanent person in his life. Help him to adjust.
